Nickname: The Dreamhole
Danger Ranking: 4D
First Reported: 1979–10–05 — Outskirts of Lullaby, WA
Summary:
The Dreamhole is a persistent spatial anomaly located within a stretch of rural forestland near Lullaby, Washington. From a distance, it appears as a simple pit—roughly twelve feet in diameter, ringed with soil and moss. However, once approached, subjects experience vertigo, auditory hallucinations, and the overwhelming sense that something is awake below. Inside, the pit descends impossibly deep. Rope and light have not found its bottom.
It emits no heat, wind, or sound—but occasionally, something climbs out.
A number of anomalous creatures (catalogued under separate Entities entries) have emerged from The Dreamhole since first contact. These entities often display awareness of human names, memories, and personal fears, despite no prior interaction. The Dreamhole itself is not considered sentient—but the things it births might be.
Known Properties:
- The anomaly appears fixed in space. Attempts to cover or collapse it have failed. Earth collapses into it but never fills it.
- Low hum recorded at edge of pit during new moons. Frequencies affect nearby wildlife, often causing migration or death.
- Dreams among individuals who spend time near the hole become shared or overlapping, often referencing a single dark figure saying “Come home.”
- Creatures that emerge vary in form but share disturbing familiarity with specific individuals in the area—knowing names, past traumas, and secrets.
- The area surrounding the hole has weak gravity fluctuations—documented by leaf movement, falling objects, and internal compass spin.
- Those who have entered do not return. Audio equipment lowered into the void records radio static and intermittent whispering in multiple languages.
- Soil and air samples taken from within one meter of the hole show trace elements not found on Earth.
Containment Procedure:
- Area cordoned off under the guise of a defunct military testing site (Site D-33).
- Guard patrols operate on 12-hour shifts with rotating personnel to limit long-term exposure.
- No physical attempts to descend the Dreamhole are authorized. Remote drone entry suspended after three consecutive losses.
- All emerging entities are to be classified and contained as individual Entities as per Threat Protocol 011-A.
- No civilian contact allowed within five kilometers. Local legend containment through misinformation campaigns.
Encounters:
- 1979–10–05 — Lullaby, WA: Original discovery by a hiking couple. One vanished. The other returned speaking an unknown language for several days before recovery.
- 1984–03–12 — Site D-33: First emergence event. An entity resembling a missing boy from 1972 walked from the hole. It was burned and spoke in reverse. It knew the names of everyone present.
- 1990–07–08 — Site D-33: Emergence of Entity 017: The Named Ones. Observed crawling out with no heat signature. Whispered: “You dreamed me.” Casualty count: 3.
Recommendation:
Maintain all boundaries. Do not respond to voices from the pit, even if they use your name. This place is not a tear in space—it is a womb. And it remembers who left.
