Mimics_030-6E
Nickname: Mother in the Mirror
Danger Ranking: 6E
First Reported: 1985–02–19 — Aberdeen, WA (Initial visual distortion report from residential psychiatric evaluation)
Summary:
Mother in the Mirror is a highly dangerous, cognitively adaptive mimic that inhabits reflective surfaces—primarily mirrors within bedrooms and bathrooms. When encountered, it initially reflects its observer perfectly. Over repeated viewings, however, it introduces subtle changes: a shift in facial expression, a wrong number of fingers, the delayed blink of a reflection no longer tied to the real.
Its form stabilizes into a twisted, idealized maternal figure, based on deep subconscious memory or emotional residue. Victims begin to experience compulsions to return to the mirror at increasing frequency, reporting feelings of comfort, safety, or guilt-ridden longing. After approximately 48 hours of cumulative exposure, the entity fully replaces the reflection, speaking in the victim’s native language and calling them by pet names only a mother might know.
Prolonged exposure results in a complete psychological override. Victims may begin “entering” the mirror—seen physically standing in front of it for hours, unblinking, eventually ceasing all vital signs without ever collapsing. In certain cases, victims have been found with mirror-glass embedded in their hands, eyes, or throat, apparently self-inflicted in an attempt to “return to her.”
