Summary:
The Named Ones are humanoid figures that emerge from the spatial rift known as the Dreamhole (see Spaces 011). Each specimen appears to mimic an individual known personally to the observer, though with subtle anatomical inconsistencies—such as elongated limbs, mirrored eyes, or mouths that remain fixed open, regardless of speech.

Their emergence occurs during low barometric pressure events within a 2-mile radius of the Dreamhole. Each Named One seems drawn to individuals with emotional ties to the person they mimic. Victims often report hearing their name whispered before an encounter.

These entities are sapient, or at least convincingly simulate sapience. They speak in patterns drawn from memories—often exact phrasings, tones, or mannerisms from real individuals in the target’s life. This simulation breaks down the longer the entity is observed, typically around the 8–12 minute mark, at which point the Named One will begin to pursue or envelop the observer.

Known Properties:

• Physically resemble known persons, but with warped or exaggerated features.
  
• Know the name and history of the observer upon first contact.
  
• Speech patterns match those of mimicked individuals, often unsettlingly so.
  
• Entities distort in high light or reflection; shadows tend to bend toward them.
  
• After sustained attention, they undergo rapid anatomical shifts and become hostile.
  
• Vocal cords appear external under thermal imaging, pulsing during mimicry.
  

Containment Procedure:
Direct containment not advised due to their origin from Spaces 011. Instead:

• All patrols within a 3-mile radius of the Dreamhole must carry portable voiceprint dampeners and infrared veil lenses.
  
• Personnel are to travel in groups no smaller than four, with zero personal data exchanged on comms.
  
• Emotional triggers (photos, names, letters) are to be prohibited within the quarantine zone.
  

If an entity is encountered, no interaction should be attempted. Observation beyond two minutes is forbidden. Immediately retreat to the nearest reflective-null safe zone (aluminum-lined outpost or vehicle).

Encounters:

• 1987-11-02 — Larchmouth National Forest: Researcher Brennan identified a “copy of his daughter,” who had died in 1982. He was found unresponsive, with fingernail impressions across his skull.
  
• 1989-02-17 — Site Echo-4 Perimeter: Three security agents failed to respond to check-in. Surveillance recovered footage of all three speaking to figures resembling their spouses. Only one body was recovered.
  
• 1990-12-28 — Temporary Field Camp N-7: Scout reported “someone calling her name from behind the trees for hours.” Subsequent patrols found no trace of her, but discovered footprints matching her missing brother’s shoe size.
  

Recommendation:
All field staff assigned to the Dreamhole sector must undergo regular psychological debriefs and be screened for unresolved grief or recent bereavement. Mimicry and naming protocols are to be updated quarterly.
