Nickname: The Wishing Box
Danger Ranking: 5.C
First Reported: 1982–03–09 — Seattle, WA (private estate, Queen Anne Hill)

Summary:
The Wishing Box appears as an ornately carved wooden container, roughly the size of a breadbox, with no visible hinges or seams. It is covered in symbols of mixed origin—some pre-Columbian, others reminiscent of early Mesopotamian script—and its internal dimensions do not conform to its outer measurements. It was discovered among the belongings of a deceased antiquities dealer, sealed inside a lead-lined chest beneath the floorboards of his estate.

The entity activates upon spoken desire. Any individual who makes a wish in proximity to the box while touching it experiences a rapid manifestation of their request—frequently through violent, surreal, or grotesque means. Wishes are not fulfilled directly by the box but instead cause reality to contort and provide the outcome via the path of least resistance. The more impossible or abstract the request, the more destructive the fulfillment.

The object resists destruction and relocation. Attempts to bury, drown, or isolate the box have all failed, with it reappearing within 72 hours in a location emotionally or personally significant to the original wisher. Multiple deaths and psychological breaks have resulted from failed containment efforts.
