Echoes_015–1D
Nickname: “The Mirror Lake Transmission”
Danger Ranking: 1D
First Reported: 1979-07-20, near Alta Lake, WA
Summary:
Echoes_015–1D is a recurring radio signal anomaly first picked up on shortwave frequencies near Mirror Lake in the North Cascades. The transmission manifests only between 2:03 AM and 2:09 AM local time, and consists of a highly distorted voice repeating a sequence of numbers, intercut with what appears to be breathing, wind through reeds, and intermittent static.
The signal appears to be omnidirectional, but efforts to triangulate its source have failed. Audio engineers describe it as a “phantom frequency,” suggesting it doesn't propagate normally through atmospheric channels. Instead, it seems to be localized to a precise 3.1 km radius around Mirror Lake—beyond which it vanishes completely.
Several independent researchers and ham radio enthusiasts have attempted to decode the numerical sequences, leading to multiple theories. One pattern matched the birth and death dates of 14 missing persons between 1952–1971. Another sequence translated to coordinates pointing to non-existent forest service roads.
The phenomenon is considered benign but deeply unnerving. Subjects who listen to the entire broadcast have reported vivid, dream-like memories of drowning—though none of them have any personal history with water trauma. In two cases, listeners later developed hydrophobia.

Containment Procedure:
Local radio frequencies are jammed nightly during active hours by a mobile PARADIGM team stationed near the lake. Civilians are discouraged from camping in the area via fabricated sinkhole warnings and posted signs citing electromagnetic hazard.
Recordings are archived monthly in analog format for pattern analysis. No digital duplication permitted—past attempts caused recursive feedback loops during playback, degrading nearby storage media.

Recommendation:
Low priority unless signal expands or changes in pattern. Continue passive surveillance and analog documentation. Suggest further testing of the psychic residue hypothesis—possibility of collective trauma or artifact memory imprint.
