Echoes_009–3B
Nickname: “The Hum at Dead Mile”
Danger Ranking: 3B
First Reported: 1988-02-19, Mile Marker 213, Highway 10, WA
Summary:
Echoes_009–3B refers to a persistent low-frequency auditory phenomenon reported exclusively at a stretch of rural highway near the 213-mile marker, colloquially known by locals as "Dead Mile." Drivers frequently report hearing a rhythmic hum between the hours of 1:13 AM and 3:33 AM, which is not captured by standard audio recording equipment but has been verified by a spectrum analyzer as a 32Hz oscillation with intermittent 11Hz undertones.
Subjects exposed to the hum report a sense of disorientation, slowed cognition, and extreme emotional clarity, followed by memory loss between 5 and 18 minutes after leaving the area. Several subjects have claimed to “see the lights stop moving,” or to witness other cars “freeze like insects in amber.” Surveillance reveals momentary frame loss and spatial distortion, consistent with localized time dilation.
Of the 12 recorded exposure events, 3 resulted in missing persons cases. In each instance, the subject’s vehicle was found still running on the shoulder, doors unlocked, emergency blinkers cycling in an irregular rhythm (~93 bpm).

Containment Procedure:
The affected area has been reclassified as “Under Long-Term Road Maintenance,” with ongoing construction signage to deter night traffic. Listening stations disguised as road safety units collect spectral data weekly. Personnel entering the zone must be equipped with timestamped live-feed headgear and are not permitted to remain in the zone longer than 4 minutes per visit.
Testing is limited to non-peak anomaly hours unless cleared by the Division of Temporal Event Response. Emergency stop beacons have been installed for potential retrieval in the event of a personnel disappearance.

Recommendation:
Avoid during peak anomaly hours. Continue passive monitoring. Do not initiate sound countermeasure trials until a full synchronization profile is constructed. Cross-check any missing persons in region against anomaly window.
