Aberrations 026
Nickname: The Pale Larder
Danger Ranking: 3.C
First Reported: 1983-01-22 — Cold Glen Asylum, near Tacoma, WA

Summary:
Aberrations 026 is a free-standing storage cabinet made of whitewashed wood and bone, standing approximately 7 feet tall and 3 feet wide. It was discovered sealed behind a false wall in the defunct Cold Glen Asylum, hidden among rusted surgical gurneys and medical records dated to the early 1900s. Though appearing inert at first glance, the cabinet is warm to the touch and emits a faint, rhythmic creaking sound from within, even when closed and unoccupied.

The inside of the cabinet contains shelves that appear to rearrange themselves depending on who opens it. When the door is opened by a living person, the interior briefly displays a single object from the individual's past—often a forgotten belonging, lost item, or something once associated with guilt. When the object is touched, the door slams shut.

Containment Procedure:

Encounters:

1983-01-22 — Cold Glen Asylum: Initial discovery by a demolition crew. One worker vanished after opening the cabinet. The others fled, citing "the smell of childhood bedrooms.”

1984-03-09 — Site Transfer: First containment breach during relocation. Agent Petras opened the door after hearing a lullaby. He was lost. An old photograph of him as a child was found on the upper shelf weeks later.

1990-07-14 — Site-09: Cabinet opened itself unprompted for 43 seconds. The item inside was a brass hairbrush labeled “Mother’s Room.” No personnel were harmed, but six reported sleep disturbances for weeks afterward.

Recommendation:
Do not allow emotional attachments to govern interaction. The cabinet is not a memory—it is a predator wearing one.

Something inside is building a perfect inventory of everything we’ve ever left behind.
